Copyleft

Today, I got a Creative Commons License for my blog. (If you scroll down to the bottom of the page, you'll see a link to it.) It's the Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 2.5.

It disallows the use of my work for noncommercial purposes, but allows people to modify and reuse it, under certain conditions. (I'm not good at stating this "legally", please look at the above link.)

Licenses like these are meant to expand upon copyright, so as to help "free use" of creative works. This article has much information about Copyrights and "Copylefts" (as these licenses are called.)

  1. you have said , and i quote, "It disallows the use of my work for noncommercial purposes, but allows people to modify and reuse it, under certain conditions." .....
i dont get it, "noncommercial"? it seems antithetical. pls elaborate.
on the other hand its good to see that your l'ricks and poems are now copylefted (or righted?) ... i m confused.

  2. I believe he meant "It allows the use of my work for noncommercial purposes...". It's best to follow the link and read the terms, they have it explained really simply there ^^

Also, I'm considering getting my blog copylefted as well (I'd rather do that before posting my own work). Either that, or I'll just copyright every individual poem.
